What is a Refurbished phone?

Refurbished phones mean a pre-owned handset that has been sent back due to a fault and has been repaired for resale. Not all phones described as refurbished were at one stage faulty, though. Some networks and retailers classify 'refurbished phones' as handsets that were returned by customers who changed their minds within the 30-day cooling-off period after they signed up for a contract. Before being put on sale, all refurbished phones have been thoroughly checked and tested to ensure they’re in full working order. Tests carried out by the seller typically include whether the battery charges and checking the buttons and cameras work. The seller will also verify audio quality and screen responsiveness, as well as how the phone connects to Wi-Fi and 3G/4G. In keeping with the Data Protection Act, the seller will securely wipe any data on the phone. So to all intents and purposes, you’ll be starting afresh. Some refurbished phone sellers update the handset to the latest version of the operating system that powers it.

Should you buy a Refurbished phone?

It depends totally on your requirements whether you are comfortable buying a repaired or unboxed phone. It can save some of the money but you get a half warranty and a used or unboxed device which not new it basically comes in used category. If I had the option of buying a refurbished device I would rather buy a smaller new device but everyone has their opinion. Do comment down and share your opinion about refurbished phones. Always buy refurbished phones from trusted sites so that if you don't like the device you can go for a refund option without any fear of losing your money.

How much money difference does it make?

It mostly saves 30% of your money( don't quote me on this I have made this calculation form watching refurbished phones on amazon). For example, New OnePlus 7 costs around 34999 INR on amazon and refurbished OnePlus 7 costs around 26999 INR. But if you are planning to buy a refurbished phone which costs only 2000 to 3000 lesser compared to new then I would suggest you buy a new device rather then going for refurbished. Don't buy cheap brands when going with refurbished phones always buy Apple, Samsung, Oneplus, etc phones.

Warranty

Mostly you get around 6 months of warranty and in some devices, you get a complete 12 months warranty.

Pros & Cons

• Get the phone at a cheaper rate.

• Phones in warranty.

• They’ll also include a charging cable or charger.

• Used phone or unboxed.

• It's not guaranteed whether you'll receive other accessories that were originally bundled with the phone, such as headphones.
